So, das werd ich vor dem Abflug intus haben *g* (Krankheiten gegen die geimpft wurden, in klammern anzahl spritzen vor abreise/anzahl spritzen für vollimunisierung benötigt):

Jaaa... die Behörden. Grosser Spass. Teuer. Und Absolut unnötig. Nachdem ich erst die Botschaft angeschirbeen habe um zu erfragen was ich für ein Visum bräuchte (ca 1/2 jahr vor reiseantritt) sagte man mir wegen ständig wechselnder einreisebedingungen könne man ein Visum erst 3 monate vor abreise ausstellen... gesagt getan, exakt 3 monate vor abreise Schilderte ich meine Situation erneut
Die Formulare sind alle zum Download im Netz, aber ich könnte theoretisch mehrere Gruppen erfüllen, da ich für die Universität, nicht zum studieren oder forschen ein Pflichtpraktikum machen möchte. Die Formulare die ich ausfüllen sollte widersprachen dem etwas, aber nach einem telefonat mit der Botschaft war klar, das sie diese so haben wollten - So ging das teure unterfangen los.
Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis, Reisekrankenversicherung, Kontostandnachweis, Rückflugbestätigung (alternativ 770 Euro Bar als Hinterlegung), medizinischer Check, Röntgen der Lunge auf Tuberkulose (beides auf eigene Kasse), Nachweis über einen Fahrtkotenzuschuss, Bestätigung der Praktikumsstelle und einen Visumsantrag zusammengesucht und nebst Pass an die Botschaft versandt und die bearbeitungsgebühr überwiesen... Kostenfaktor insgesamt 150 euro an sonst nicht anfallenden Kosten.
Und 2 Wochen später kam alles ausser dem Geld zurück. Statement der Botschaft:
Dear Mr. xxx
We have your application for a visitors permit. The aim of your application is to do a practical at Epilepsy South Africa in Knysna. In your application (page 4 of BI-84) you stated, that the practical is required to conclude your studies. In that case you need not to apply for a visitor's in Germany, but will be issued with one on arrival in South Africa. Upon arrival you'll be issued with a visitor's permit for three months. An extention of the permit can be applied for thirty days before your permit expires.

-> Konkret: Ich brauche also kein Visum, weil es ein Pflichtpraktikum für die Uni ist. Gut das ich nochmal telefonisch nachgefragt hab. Schade Geld(Ich bekomme nun eine Aufenthaltserlaubnis für 90 Tage in Südafrika die ich nach 60 Tagen dort verlängern kann). Was ein Abenteuer :D

Die Gespräche mit der Praktikumstelle und später der Uni verliefen eigentlich sehr entspannt. Auch wenn ich die Geschichte über das zustandekommen des Praktikums schon oft erzählt habe, hier noch einmaldie komplette Story:
Ich war am 14.06.07 bei dem Vortrag/Projektvorstellung "Rollis für Afrika" und da hat jemand sein Projekt im Senegal vorgestellt (siehe link), und der meinte halt, man könne dort auch Praktika machen. Da machte es bei mir irgendwie klick. Praktikum musste ich eh noch machen und Afrika klang klasse. und zu dem Zeitpunkt hielt mich nicht viel in Deutschland. Senegal kamm allerdings nicht in Frage. Dort spricht man französisch. Son Schweinkram mache ich nicht. Ich suchte mir dann ein englischsprachiges afrikanisches Land mit Flughafen (joa den gibts da nicht überall... zum Beispiel nicht in Gambia/Lesotho) und stiess auf Südafrika. Da ich gern weiter in dem Bereich arbeiten wollte in dem ich schon Erfahrung hatte suchte ich nach Epilepsy uns South Africa. Das Ergebnis ist der Link in der Überschrift. Das einzige(!) Unternehmen das ich angeschrieben habe. Nach einigem Emailverkehr wurden wir uns einig(Ich bezahle den Flug und bekomme kein Gehalt, erhalte aber freie kost und logis. Dank meiner Chefin bekomme ich aber weiter Geld von meinem Arbeitgeber in Deutschland (danke Paula). Dann schaltete ich meine Praktikumsstelle von der Uni hinzu. auch hier verlief der Kontakt Reibungslos, zwischen allen 3 Partnern (danke Thessen), Und die Lauferei konnte Beginnen (Impfungen, Förderzuuschuss(dafür musste ich mein Vordiplom beenden(!), einen Sprachtest bestehen und irgendwelche Zettel Sammeln (bei der Praktikumsstelle, dem Arbeitgeber dem Prüfungsamt)) - mit Erfolg, offizielle Bestätigungen Seitens Uni und Praktikumsstelle, Visum, und ein Antrag den Semesterbeitrag einmalig nicht zahlen zu müssen(steht momentan noch aus), Flüge buchen)... bis auf das Visum, welches ich nun wie gesagt nicht brauche, alles mit Erfolg bisher. Die nun ehemalige Sekretärin dort hat sich mir schon als Sprachpartner für afrikaans Angeboten und auch der restliche umgang ist sehr positiv:)

Before the flight to south africa I had/have to do quite a lot of vaccinations, I thought of adding a list. its sorted by desease (number of doses before departure/number of doses required for full immunisation)

Public authorities....Great and expancive fun to mess around with. And so unnecessary. When I first wrote to the embassy of the republic of South Africa in Germany, asking what kind of visum I need (about half a year ahead of my departure) I was told to come back when there's only 3 months left to my flight, because of changing entrance regulations they could not give me a visum any earlier... Said and done, exactly 3 months before my flight I set off another email describing my situation.
The formulae are all available in the net, but i fullfill the conditions for several groups theoretically able to apply for a visum (working (though not for money) as a student (not to study though for the studium doing a required practical). The formulae the embassy sent me didn't seem to match the terms I was going to travel under anyways, so I phoned them up asking if they were sure these were the right ones. They told me yes, they were I had to fill them out and send them back.
They requested numerous documents stating my biological and financial health, proving my work contract and my liability, as well as a health insurance for my time staying and a flight back to germany (that or send them the money to buy it for me worst case), and of course the official visums document and ... MONEY :D
I had to invest roundabout 150€ that were unrefundable and not usable elsewise.
2 weeks later I got mail from the embassy encluding all my documents (but not my money), stating:

-> concrete: I need no visum whatsoever, because the practical is required by the university. It was definately a good idea to telefonically double check with the embassy. Bad luck it didnt help anyways ;) No need to say the money is gone anyways.I will now be getting a visitors permit for ninety days which I can enlengthen after staying 2 months in South Africa. What an adventure ;)

The how it all came to be part ;)
on june 14th I was on a lecture about wheelchairs in africawhere someone presented his project in ssenegal(link). This guy told me, they would also offer practicals there. Which happened to be something I still had to do for my studium. And Africa sounded just as well, since a foreign country practical is always a good reference and nothing much held me in germany (back then). Senegal didnt appear to be my country of choice tho, since my french is very bad (if you can speak of me as someone speaking french anyways). So I was searching for an english speaking african country with an airport (that eg excludes Gambia and lesotho), and south africa seemed to be a perfect match. Since I wanted to continue my work in a branch I already had some skills in, I googled(!) epilepsy and south africa. The url in the topic was my first and only hit I ever klicked (and the only organisation I ever mailed).After some email traffic we both found some terms acceptable for both sides (I dont get any paycheck there and have to buy the flight myself, therefor I will be getting 3 meals a day and a chamber for free). Thanks to my Organisation in Germany (Danke Paula) I will still get a salary though.
After that I contacted the pracicals bureau in my University. Here as well everything went very smoothly between all three negotiating parties(thanks to Thessen as well).
Then the run for documents started - Vaccinations, stipendium(this alone needed a pre-diploma I hadnt yet finished, a language test for written and spoken englishand some papersby the office for practicals and the employing organitation - but I got all of them + the money ;)), some official papers confirming my practical, a visum (containing all the documents stated above) and some formular so I dont have to pay money for my absent semester at the university I study(still pending), and booking the flights of course. Except for the visum, that I, as stated above ordered but didnt need, everything was a success. I even found a language partner training me some africaans in exchange for german speaking skills ;)
All in all the contact to the organisation in south africa went really fast and well and I'm looking forward to the trip ;)
